It's not surprising to see wooden sculptures in Idyllwild, however, it would be more likely to see a bear or a lumberjack. That's why the Gargoyles that adorn the entrance to the "Mantle Carvers" site in Idyllwild interest me. Reminscent of Notre Dame, they crouch atop faux stone pedistals and lear across Hwy 243. Why stray from the traditional forest creature? If nothing else they're certainly eye catching.
