Tara Dougans

What interests me so much about Tara Dougans work? I found myself asking this as I scrolled through her website. I think I admire her work in the way I like Diane Arbus; her sketches bring out the strange from the normal. The obscure in every day life. Her illustrations are full of detail and many of her portraits manipulate hair in a way that remind me of Victorian hair wreaths like I have seen in some historical societies. I also really enjoy the portraits of dogs in costume. Here are some of my favorite illustrations but you can also find some on her flickr account.
