Chris Maluszynski, Vegas Carpets

Recently I discovered the work of photographer Chris Maluszynski, and was immediately drawn to his series of Las Vegas carpets. It's a kaleidoscopic view of the floors that draw gamblers into a world like no other; Vegas is a land of the strange, and the floors are no different. I love that even the floors are designed to make Vegas feel like an adult playground. In his discussion with the New Yorker Maluszynski summed up the way the carpets affect the Vegas psychological experience by quoting Hunter S. Thompson; “You’re in a prison of sensory impressions. I was trying to rest my eyes, and I looked at the carpet and thought, Shit, I can’t do it there, either...”
