Yes, Salvador Dali was an amazing artist, but he was also very talented at self promotion. My ceramics teacher insists that these are the two things that cement artists in the history book. Talent will get you only so far, marketing will do the rest. This is one bazaar clip I found of Dali advertising a French chocolate bar.
